Wednesday 26th July 2010 York Theatre Royal
"Sure On This Shining Night"

In what was one of the most well- attended concerts in York recently, MILLEGRO threw out the rule-book for performing choirs and thrilled an audience of over 560 in York's premier theatre.

With stalls and circle completely sold out this stunning show not only raised the roof, but also raised a few eyebrows as well!

Only few weeks earlier MILLEGRO celebrated its FIRST Birthday, and was now staging an entertaining 2 hour show in this prestigious venue, helping to raise £266 for local charity "Jessie's Fund".

Highlighted with powerful, emotional effect were pieces by living composers Morten Lauridsen and Jeffrey L. Ames, alongside rousing performances of Piazzolla's "La Muerte Del Angel", Peggy Lee's "Fever" and contemporary arrangements of popular tunes by director Ewa Salecka - including "Amazing Grace" and "The Lovecats".

By the time the final curtain came down, everyone in the audience had been left with no doubt that a new, exhilarating chapter in York choral events had been opened!

Many thanks must be extended to Banks Music for supplying the Roland V-Piano; Glenn Dolby, our Compere; Dave Smyth on percussion; Tim Twomey on alto sax; Jarek Raepka for capturing the atmosphere brilliantly in his photographs; Jonny Walton for filming the event; the make-up team from York College for their assistance; and everyone that attended the show, making it such a memorable night!
